11. Comments, suggestions ..

Good workshop. Thank you.

Thank you for the organization and the opportunity to be part TA family in Serbia. I felt like home and waiting for the next event. Be healthy and positive.

I am beyond satisfied and grateful.
Thank you very much!

maybe to think about translation in a different way .. For in person participants, a “tour guide system” will be provided, which means that participants will listen to their interpreter through tour guide system headphones. That was written on your website … but then you translated live – sentence after sentence … also durign therapy – which also influences on the rhytm of the therapy. I would recommend that internation workshops are in English and you translate in other languages through headphones and on zoom on different language channels. Therapies in person would be all in English, so it could be fluent … If someone cannot speak English, they unfortunately would not be able to sit in a session – live. Specially in settings when you translated from english to russian to serbian – was quite hard to listen and concentrate. Yes, Erskine was either way a good sport 🙂

I truly appreciated the format of the seminar, with a lot of practice and theory connected with live cases.

The internet connection could be better, people joining online had some difficulties to involve.
It was an excellent workshop and organization, also the location it was good. Thank you!

The organization of the training was very good. Both the location of the hotel and the lunches were very good. As a participant from Turkey, there were times when I felt a little ‘outside’, due to the small number of participants. In future trainings, a little more attention can be given to the integration of people from different countries. Thanks for everything.

Appreciate for everything

Thank you!!!

Development and treatment of personality Disorders – Integrative and TA approach with Ravi Welch and Aleksandra Bubera Ninić

Development and treatment of personality Disorders – Integrative and TA approach with Ravi Welch and Aleksandra Bubera Ninić

April 4th-6th 2025, Serbia, Belgrade,

“Miljenko Dereta” event space, Dobračina 55

There is an increase of people with Personality Disorders in the general population in the new Generations.

And that is why this topic is very important for everyone who works within mental health filed, because an increasing number of users of mental health services are diagnosed also with personality disorders, as well as a growing number of users of these services, who are affected directly or indirectly by the consequences of relationships with people suffering from personality disorders.

There are many hypotheses why the prevalence of these disorders 70 years ago was around 5%, while now it is increasing to as much as 15-20%, and the number of people diagnosed with Personality Disorders has increased dramatically in the last 30 years.

The purpose of this workshop is twofold:

*to give attendees an idea of the development of the Personality Disorders with possible causes that are developmental, and

*to give an opportunity to work actively on their own experiences with clients in the form of supervision, role plays and discussions.

The workshop, being based on Integrative Psychotherapy and Transactional Analysis,

will live from the dialog and relationship that we will establish with each other;

as Carl Rogers said: “it is the relationship that heals….

to this the German Psychiatrist Tilmann Moser added: ….disciplined through the Method.”

So we will work within the relationship using the theory and methods of the psychotherapeutic schools.

All professionals in the field of mental health are welcome to the workshop: psychotherapists of all therapeutic schools/directions, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, special pedagogues, but also all those who are being educated for professions and work in the field of mental health.

The work will be distributed for all three days as follows:

10.00÷11.30 work

11.30÷11.45 coffee break

11.45÷13.15 work

13.15÷14.15 lunch

14.15÷15.45 work

15.45÷16.00 coffee break

16.00÷17.30 work

17.30÷18.00 end of the day

The price of this three-day workshop is 300€ (36.000-din).

The price of the workshop includes lunch and two coffee breaks on all three days of the workshop.

Workshop will be in English language with non-professional consecutive translation (you can find details on consecutive translation here) to Serbian language by colleagues who are in psychotherapy education.

Handouts, the author’s PowerPoint presentation and the video recording of the seminar (if there will be ones) are not included in the price of the seminar.

Previous workshops held by Ravi Welch:

Ravi Welch, psychologist and integrative psychotherapist, held a plenary lecture entitled: “Increase of personality disorders & the breakdown of individual attachment in post-war socialization”

War socialization) at the XI congress of psychotherapists of Serbia “Brave new world”.

The XI Congress of Psychotherapists of Serbia was held from October 28 to 31, 2021, organized by the Serbian Union of Associations for Psychotherapy – SUAP and the plenary lecture was held in cooperation with the National Association for Transactional Analysis of Serbia – NATAS and you can watch it here

Ravi Welch, among other things, at the very beginning of his career, even before enrolling in psychology studies, worked at the Cathexis Institute, within the program for future trainees, with patients suffering from severe mental disorders.

Online workshop on the topic: “Introduction to the treatment of psychosis using Transactional Analysis” Organized by NATAS and SUAP, was held on October 24, 2021. The workshop was free, as it was generously donated by Ravi Welch, and it was held as a pre-congress activity of the XI SUAP Congress.

Psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, clinical social workers and other mental health professionals,

psychotherapists and students of various psychotherapy approaches were invited to apply for this seminar. About 400 participants took part in this two-hour workshop and gave it an excellent evaluation (you can view the evaluation results and the workshop in its entirety here).

Ravi Welch held two more seminars organized by NATAS:

“Psychological development – normal and psychotic development viewed through the theory of reparenting and affective attachment” which you can read here and

“Psychodynamic and reparenting treatment of psychosis” which you can read about here

On these pages you can also find a link to order recordings, if you missed those seminars.

Each subsequent workshop is based on the previous one, so it is recommended to watch to all three, but it is possible to follow them separately.

Ravi Welch was born in the United States, and he is half Indian and half American. His parents were Christian missionaries in India and came every few years for additional education in the United States. They were both Transaction Analysts and have organized help centers in India and trained professionals in clinical work and counseling with people who have suffered. His father was a psychologist and theologian, and his mother was a social worker. Ravi says that he grew up with the language and concepts of Transactional Analysis and that he thought that all other people speak exclusively in that language. At the age of 15, he met Jackie Schiff, and at the age of 16, he received an official invitation from the board of the Cathexis Institute in California to join their team. He accepted the invitation and during his stay in California at the University of Berkeley he completed his undergraduate studies in psychology and a master’s degree in research psychology, and spent the rest of his time working with the Jackie Schiff team at the Cathexis Institute with patients with severe mental disorders. He also met his future wife there, so they moved to Germany together and have lived and worked there ever since. He trained future professionals in the field of mental health at the university to work with the reparenting approach, at the invitation of the German government.

In addition to Transactional Analysis at Jackie Schiff School, he also studied Hypnotherapy with Milton Erickson, Body Psychotherapy with Alexander Loven, Matt Redington and David Fenstermaker.

He is an integrative psychotherapist who applies the theoretical and practical settings of Integrative Psychotherapy and all other therapeutic directions based on a relational approach.

He is also a Zen Buddhism teacher and works with the connection between psychology and the development of the mind and research that deals with what happens to the mind when we practice meditative techniques. He teaches about therapeutic communities at the Faculty of Social Work and Special Education at the Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, and works with patients in private psychotherapy practice.

Education – Richard G. Erskine, PhD – Unconscious Relational Patterns, Cumulative Neglect, and Therapeutic Involvement

Education – Richard G. Erskine, PhD – Unconscious Relational Patterns, Cumulative Neglect, and Therapeutic Involvement

Richard Erskine, PhD, famous TA teacher, the only triple winner of Eric Berne award for TA development and founder of Relational based Integrative psychotherapy, will hold new seminar  on October 13th, 14th and 15th 2023, at 6pm to 9pm (GMT/UTC + 1h), about one of the basic theoretical assumptions of Transactional Analysis

– Life Scripts –

from a developmentally based, relational-integrative perspective:

Unconscious Relational Patterns, Cumulative Neglect, and Therapeutic Involvement

Outpatient psychiatric practice “Bubera” will host this event with technical support of National Association for Transactional Analysis of Serbia – NATAS and Association “Belcounsel”.

One of his Eric Berne awards he has won exactly for his Racket/Script system concept

Education will be held in 3 sessions on Zoom app. October 13th, 14th and 15th 2023, (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from 18 to 21 Central European time (GMT/UTC + 1h) (Western Europe = 6-9pm; Eastern Europe = 7-10pm; UK = 5-8pm; North America Eastern time = 12-3pm; North America Pacific time = 9:00am-12:00pm).

In accordance with the previous positive practice and the results of the previous evaluations of the educations we organized with Dr. Erskine, as well as the great response of professionals in the field of mental health, we continue to organize educations with Dr. Richard G. Erskine, the doyen of psychotherapy theory and practice known worldwide, who shapes and conveys theoretical concepts in great receptive manner and discusses, analyzes, and supervises examples from practice with the participants.

We invite all professionals in the field of mental health, psychotherapists and trainees of various psychotherapeutic approaches to apply for this program, and especially trainees of Transactional analysis, Integrative Psychotherapy, Gestalt therapy, Body psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.

Unconscious systems of psychological organization and self-regulation are developed by our clients as a consequence of cumulative failures in significant, dependent relationships. Unconscious relational patterns may be ‘perceived’ by the client as physiological tensions, incomprehensible affects, longings and repulsions. In this context, the therapist’s sensitivity to and understanding of unconscious experiential conclusions, and the unique relational nature of therapeutic involvement is essential for an in-depth therapy of archaic relational patterns, current relational disturbances and fixated systems of psychological organization.

Unconscious processes permeate the therapeutic relationship and form the basis of both transference and countertransference. Unconscious processes involve prelinguistic memories, never-languaged emotional experiences, the “untalkedaboutable”, survival reactions and conclusions, implicit procedural memories, and denied explicit memories. Such unconscious processes are expressed through psychological enactments and the transference and countertransference dyad as compliance, projection and identification as well as the psychotherapist’s emotional presence and “therapeutic free association”. Presymbolic experience, implicit memory and repressed explicit memory all constitute unconscious process. A comprehensive psychotherapy involves making what is unconscious, conscious.

Through lecture, case vignettes and clinical discussions we will explore  various aspects of unconscious processes. Emphasises will be placed on how early attachments are formed through physiological survival reactions, implicit conclusions, explicit decisions, and introjections at various stages in the process of development.

Participants are encouraged to present their work with clients (in the way that respects confidentiality of the client) for case discussion (supervision) from Dr Erskine, because this workshop is envisioned as a way to apply theory directly in psychotherapeutic practice with clients.

The workshop is accredited as a professional meeting of the first category by the Medical Chamber of Serbia under registration number A-1-1273/23, the Dental Chamber of Serbia under registration number V-1796/23-II and the Health Council of Serbia under registration number C-1-46/23 by decision of the Health Council of Serbia under the  number: 153-02-347/2023-01 date 21.08.2023.

This education will be in English and Serbian language with consecutive nonprofessional translation done by colleagues from mental health field.  (You can read here about consecutive interpreting: what is consecutive interpreting).

Erskine, PhD, insists on consecutive translation, because this is the best way to attune alive with translators and participants – to monitor whether participants understand the content, to monitor participants and their reactions and potentially include them in the discussion.

The seminar has been confirmed, and we are accepting applications for participation until October 1, 2023.

Who is eligible for this education?

Psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, clinical social workers are eligible to participate at the education, but also all other professionals from mental health field (special pedagogues, andragogues, MDs, nurses…) provided that they are in the process of psychotherapy training, and that they have filled in application form.

Education – Richard G. Erskine, PhD – Obsession, habitual worrying and repetitive fantasizing: a perspective from relational and integrative psychotherapy

Education – Richard G. Erskine, PhD – Obsession, habitual worrying and repetitive fantasizing: a perspective from relational and integrative psychotherapy

Richard G. Erskine, PhD held education: Obsession, habitual worrying and repetitive fantasizing: a perspective from relational and integrative psychotherapy on March 24th, 25th and 26th 2023, at 6pm to 9pm (GMT/UTC + 1h).

Outpatient psychiatric practice “Bubera” hosted this event with technical support of National Association for Transactional Analysis of Serbia – NATAS and Association “Belcounsel”.

This is the fourth consecutive year in which we have the honor to organize a education-training held by Dr. Richard G. Erskine, a world-renowned lecturer and psychotherapist who masterfully explains theoretical and demonstrates practical psychotherapeutic concepts.

We invited all professionals in the field of mental health, psychotherapists and trainees of various psychotherapeutic approaches to apply for this program, and especially trainees of Transactional analysis, Integrative Psychotherapy, Gestalt therapy, Body psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.

Obsession, habitual worrying and repetitive fantasizing, either independently manifested or concomitant with shame, absorb much of our client’s mental activity thereby interfering with their spontaneity, intimacy, and living joyfully in the present.  The psychotherapy of obsessions is complex because of the compounded and continually reinforcing multiple intrapsychic functions. A respectful and patient inquiry into the client’s phenomenological experience is required to learn the unique combination of intrapsychic functions.

Obsessions, recurring fantasies, rigid behavioral patterns, and habitualized feelings are all maintained by an individual because they provide significant psychological functions. In an effective psychotherapy, the functions of the repetitive behavior, feeling, or fantasy must first be identified and appreciated by the client prior to any lasting growth or even change. It is essential in an in-depth treatment of obsession to assess the origins and intrapsychic functions of the repetitive fantasizing and to validate how those multiple functions help the client to maintain psychological homeostasis.

Because, in the life of a young child, these psychological functions were originally relational in nature. As a result of relationship failure and the disruption of interpersonal contact, the functions became internalized, defensive, and attached to something intrapsychic, such as obsessive thoughts or feelings, the urge for compulsive behavior, or repetitive fantasy.

Through a relational therapy and phenomenological inquiry the therapist facilitates the client in gaining an awareness of relational needs, appreciating the intrapsychic functions of an obsession, transferring those functions to the therapeutic relationship, and engaging significant others in interpersonal contact.

We explored the origin of repetitive fantasizing, habitual worrying and obsessions:

  • the psychological functions, (as for example: predictability, identity, continuity, compensation, reparation, efficacy, integrity, stability and triumph);
  • script beliefs;
  • The processes of avoidance;
  • archaic experience;
  • relational-needs; and
  • self-responsibility.

Dr Erskine presented a six-point therapeutic plan for the psychotherapy of clients who engage in obsession, habitual worrying and repetitive fantasizing.

The six-point therapy plan focuses on how obsession is often an attempt to disavow affect and engage in intellectualization rather than feel emotions.

We discussed how methods of: cognitive understanding, behavioural change, affective expression and relational psychotherapy could be applied in therapy planning – with a view to reclaiming of our client’s sensitivities to others and their personal sense of contentment.

Participants were encouraged to present their work with clients (in the way that respects confidentiality of the client) for case discussion (supervision) from Dr Erskine, because this workshop was envisioned as a way to apply theory directly in psychotherapeutic practice with clients.

If you didn’t participate in the workshop, and want to watch the recording (or recordings of any of the workshops organized or co-organized by outpatient practice Bubera or NATAS) you can order recording by clicking HERE (link will take you to web site of NATAS, co-organizer of this event). Our recommendation is to participate in person whenever it is possible, because that way you can communicate with a lecturer directly.

This education was in English and Serbian language with consecutive nonprofessional translation done by colleagues from mental health field.

This seminar was accredited as the I category professional meeting under registration number A-1-259/23 by the Medical Chamber of Serbia, and only participants who had taken part in seminar got certificate with two CME points, and nine hours of education.

Who was eligible for this education?

Psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, clinical social workers were eligible to participate in the seminar, but also all other professionals (special pedagogues, andragogues, MDs, nurses…) provided that they were in the process of psychotherapy training, and that they had filled in application form.

Handouts, PowerPoint presentation and video recording of the education are not included in the price.
